Monitoring and delivery of management practices for fungicide resistance in SA grain crops (SAU0526)

START

July 1, 2026

FINISH

June 30, 2028

Summary

Fungicide resistance is now a major threat to grain production in SA. Of particular concern are triple-fungicide resistant net form net blotch (NFNB) strains confirmed in SA, with resistance across all three major fungicide groups. These developments undermine fungicide efficacy and increase production risk. This SAGIT project will support a coordinated SA surveillance program to enable early detection, avoid ineffective sprays, limit further resistance development and yield loss.
