Optimising a DGT to predict the risk of IMI herbicide residues (UAD0626)

START

July 1, 2026

FINISH

June 30, 2028

Summary

Herbicide residues such as those of imidazolinones (IMI) products are of increasing concern to growers. However, predictive tests to assess the potential toxicity of herbicide residues to crops are not currently available. This project will establish and validate a Diffusive Gradients in Thin films (DGT) technique that will be able to assess the risk associate with the residual toxicity of IMI formulations. Importantly, this test will provide toxicity thresholds that are not soil specific. This project is a co-investment, with GRDC providing 50% of the total funding.
