Maximising nitrogen efficiencies in wheat and canola – Fleurieu Peninsula/Murraylands (AGX4226)

START

July 1, 2026

FINISH

June 30, 2028

Summary

This project seeks to quantify crop yield, grain quality, and Nitrogen Use Efficiency differences between Nitrogen (N) fertiliser forms, application strategies and Enhanced Efficiency Fertilisers (EEF) relative to conventional urea in wheat and canola. Researchers will measure volatilisation losses and estimate total N losses where feasible, evaluate economic performance of N strategies, and deliver regional guidelines identifying where EEFs provide consistent agronomic and economic benefit to Fleurieu Peninsula and Murraylands growers.
